Aug Update: Production, Patches, & Previews

TLDR: books are being printed, zines are being laid out, some stuff is in hand, everything's going smoothly.
Production!
The book is at the printer, the proofs have been approved, and we're just in the waiting stage now. They'll take a few weeks to manufacture and a few more to freight over to my place before assembly and shipping can begin, and that is a very ethereal thing, so I can't give any update to the timeline just yet, but things are lookin good. Here is a brief preview of the proof copy i got!
Meanwhile, there's no shortage of work going on here still. The adventure zine is written, the solo zine is 80% written, and the commentary zine sorta just exists in my head right now but that will be the easiest to put together. Art and layout of course go along with that, here is the current spread of zine covers (subject to change of course)
MERCH
First off, I designed four patches and cannot decide which are my favorites so leaving that up to you. vote here for your favorite two of the four. I'll decide next week which ones go to print and are included in the blood bag.
I've got a few things coming in already including these cheesy but cool hypodermic pens! as above, these are included in the Blood Bag!
I've got some stickers and character sheet pads in hand now too, posters will be going to print this weekend, here's a glimpse at my little production tracker to show we're absolutely cooking this summer:
That's all for now! check in again in September, stay bloody. Manage your pledge at bloodborg.backerkit.com.

July update: makin big moves

tldr: going to printer, changing up some things in the blood bag, playing the waiting game for shipping.
Book progress
The first big great news is that Blood Borg is done*! Well, its going through final proofreading today, but it's going to the printer monday. It came out to 116 interior pages that look fantastic and I'm really proud of it, even though the layout project beat my ass and took a little longer than expected.
Once it is at the printer, we just kinda gotta wait it out. I don't know if it'll be here in two months or three, if there will be any issues shipping or at customs inbetween then and now, so I'm just gonna cross my fingers it all goes smoothly. I have no reason to think it won't , but weird shit happens.
In the meantime, I'm going to work on going through the pdf and bookmarking/linking page numbers/all that fun stuff so the digital version is nice and utilitarian. I'll also be working on the blood bag merch and adventure zine layout since those take a lot less time to print. Which brings me to the one big change:
Blood Bag updates
the LOSER solo rules are no longer in the hardcover book, they're gonna be in their own zine. I wrestled with this for a while, but I want to spend some more time testing and expanding the solo stuff, which would've held back the timeline for print/delivery, and I couldn't risk that. So to buy myself some extra design time, I cut it from the main book to make it its own expansion. That said, you'll all get the download for free and the print zine will go in the blood bag.
Speaking of the blood bag, this thing is stacked especially for the price. it now has three zines, stickers, patches, a poster map, character sheet pad, and a barf bag. I am swapping out the stress ball heart, which was creating a problem with shipping, for something else cool that is flat so it'll fit in the boxes better. I'll be sharing some of the patch and sticker designs next month and letting y'all vote on your favorites.
If you want to add the blood bag, or anything else, or change your address, or do whatever, visit the backerkit pledge manager, it'lll stay open til at least september.
Other World Champ news
my new Mork Borg stoner party adventure zine TWILIGHT FESTIVAL OF THE ASTRAL MAGE is available now at worldchamp.io along with new hats, patches, bodybags, and shirts. Use the code JAWBREAKER for 10% off your order.
I'll also suddenly be at GENCON this year alongside Possible Worlds, +1EXP, and IPR. If you're gonna be there, come through and say hey and grab some free stickers, i'll have a bunch of game books and zines with me.
Be well and see you again in August with the next update.

June update: on track

– Mon, Jun 24, 2024 at 05:40:25 PM
June is coming to an end so here's your monthly update.
Editing by the goat Will Jobst is in its second round and expected to be finished this week, the first round really helped clarify a lot of the rules and language and get things nice and smooth.
Art by the goat Mitchell Van Dyke is about done, though everytime we finish, they add even more awesome stuff to our shared folder. Every piece looks better than the last.
Layout by myself is in progress and looking great. Everything is fitting together nicely, the art, words, vibes, it's working just like I expected and hoped. Here's a sneak peak, of course subject to change:
Surveys have gone out, though 8% of you haven't filled it out yet. Retrieve yours at bloodborg.backerkit.com if you need to. You still have plenty of time to add-on some merch or change your address, we won't be locking down til August at the earliest, more likely September. Depends on freight time which is always a fun little mystery.
I've got a cool littlestoner metal mork borg adventure zine coming out in July called Twilight Festival of the Astral Mage, it'll be available at worldchamp.io/store very soon alongside some new tees, hats, and crossbody bags. Keep an eye on the store or follow my twitter or instagram to be notified on launch.
That's all for now. Support requests go through backerkit, please don't message on kickstarter cause I won't see it on time. Be good.

Backerkit Surveys Sent

A short and sweet update for y'all today, and this'll be the last update of May:
Backerkit surveys have gone out!
Check the email associated with your kickstarter account for an email from Backerkit that will allow you to manage your pledge. Here is where you can change your shipping address, add on the blood bag or extra copies of the book, and pay shipping charges. the backerkit will be open for most of summer as I plan to fulfill orders in October.
As a reminder, I don't handle support requests via kickstarter messaging, but I'd be happy to help via email at [email protected]. Also backerkit support is really good in my experience, contact them first as they're most likely to be able to help (and part of what I pay for is them to handle some simple support requests anyway).
Anyways, I'm going through Will's excellent editing notes, Mitch is focused this week on the character sheets and maps that are looking great, and I'm expecting to be able to start the layout this weekend after a long sleepy flight to the united kingdom for tour.

Thanks everyone so much for making BLOOD BORG a huge success! We managed to unlock every stretch goal and this thing is huge. I'm gonna quickly go over the next steps here, but for the most part we can all just chill through summer til shipping.
Pledge Manager
It's coming this month via backerkit, I just gotta set up some backend stuff. Here you'll pay shipping charges, add on additional books or blood bags, manage your address, and all that good stuff. Be on the lookout for emails from Backerkit before the end of May (though I'll post a reminder update when they go out).
Writing
I did it. I turned in the manuscript to all star editor Will Jobst yesterday. I'm texting with Mitch everyday about the remaining art pieces we want and how to accomplish them. I've got a home group playing on a somewhat regular basis and we've been having a blast with this game, I know you will too, especially with some of the surprise additions to the rules like road rage and dumpster diving procedures.
What Else
I'm going to be in and out this year on tour with my band La Dispute and working on games in the interim. I'm currently tinkering with a paranoia/conspiracy horror game called EARWORM thats illustrated by rpg royalty HODAG. I've also got a game on the back burner about pulling your teeth out, idk if that will ever see the light of day.
the best way to follow my design and publishing process is to sign up for my email newsletter at worldchamp.io. There you can also peruse all my other published work and buy any games you find fun. I will not be offering other titles as add-ons during the pledge manager jsyk. I'm also on twitter and instagram if you feel like following there.
The legend Gavriel Quiroga who makes a ton of inspiring games like Warpland and Neurocity is back with psychedelic trash biker rpg The Black Rainbow Society!
Bye
That's all for now! Thanks once again, be on the lookout for a pledge manager soon. Drink bood and be merry.
